Anyone want to guess how long it'll take him to realize how ridiculous this soul patch looks on him? Anyone?! Photo credit: Variety.com

And what is everyone’s favorite worst actor up to these days? Well aside from a fabulously evil looking new movie called Mr. Brooks (where he plays a psycho-killer) that comes out in June (more info HERE), the man’s gone indie. Facial hair and acting-wise.

The new indie film, Swing Vote, is an election comedy directed by Joshua Michael Stern (he’s only done one obscure flick in 2005 called Neverwas - with Aaron Eckhart, Ian Mckellen and William Hurt). The story is about a single father thrust into the national spotlight when the presidential election all comes down to his vote. Hmmm… doesn’t sound that interesting, to tell you the truth.

Swing Vote will be the first project to come from Costner and producing partner Jim Wilson's new company Treehouse Films (an offshoot of their Tig Productions). This new endeavor will produce film, television and online content produced fully by Costner. So yes, he still likes to get his fingers in the pie a bit (remember the WaterWorld fiasco?!).

"Treehouse will give me (the) opportunity to shepherd projects from the ground up, with the goal of aligning partners of a like mind," Costner said. " 'Swing Vote' fits right into that mold," he added.

"Kevin wants to make sure he can control projects that are dear to him and may not fit within the traditional studio system," said Wilson. "And he wants to make sure there is a model for that which makes sense." Here we go again….

Just in case anyone cares - the film begins shooting in July and will be sold in Cannes next year.
