See… I can be serious.
Sandler's Happy Madison company will join Kevin Misher in producing The Day I Turned Uncool: Confessions of a Reluctant Grown-Up, a Paramount Pictures' adaptation of Dan Zevin's comic memoir. It’s a pretty heavy story where Zevin ponders the cataclysmic reality of hitting his 30s and facing up to the commitments that come with moving into adulthood. So Sandler will probably not be pretending that a gas nozzle or a broomstick is his penis. Just a wild guess.
The writer for Hollywoodland (newly released film about the death of TV Superman, George Reeves) Paul Bernbaum is set to adapt the book, with the project being touted as a potential serious star vehicle for Sandler. Up to now, the guy has done tons of movies… sure… but as big fans as we are, we want to see a him in a heavy role. Even in Punch Drunk Love he more or less ‘shuffled and moped’ in his portrayal of misfit Barry Egan... so we’re anxious to see our boy do good and hit the big time with a serious role he can really sink his teeth into. Your fans are behind ya, Adam!
