Will this be comedy rendition of The Flash? What are we supposed to think?!
Man, it’s truly a sad day of ‘comic book turned movie’ news… First Joss is canned off of Wonder Woman, and now Warner Bros. has gone completely mad by supposedly replacing Goyer with director Shawn Levy on The Flash movie. At least Goyer left the project himself, unlike our poor Joss who got the boot. It’s a cruel, world.
So what qualifies Shawn Levy to handle this type project (not only directing but also overseeing the writing of the script), as you may remember he’s the guy that just directed the Ben Stiller comedy Night at the Museum? Damn good question. Cuz as good as that movie might have been, that still leaves the dude with absolutely no credits in this genre. The only project that could be considered a close cousin to comic book-based production, was an episode of the failed WB series Birds of Prey in 2002. So what are they smokin’ over there in the WB?
Sure, Levy’s done some other stuff such as The Pink Panther and both of those horrible Cheaper by the Dozens films with Steve Martin (total suckfest of family candy), but we’re still thinking that he’s not exactly qualified. We’ll all have to wait and see, but as of now there’s still no schedule dates announced for the film.
