Puppy Dog Eyes
Yes it’s one of those ‘What Ever Happened To’ pieces, hopefully interesting, because when these pop up from time to time, they’re going to be about actors and actresses that were once in the spotlight, but have since faded away to some degree.
Let’s kick off with a lady that is not only an Academy Award nominee, but also the heart throb for many a young lad, and perhaps a few ladies, in the mid eighties. Elisabeth Shue starred as the girlfriend of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Machio) in the 1984 film The Karate Kid, though she’s probably most famous for the film Leaving Las Vegas (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award).
Although Elisabeth Shue continued to work after Leaving Las Vegas, nothing seems to have had quite the limelight as her previous works. After Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Shue made numerous films, though the most well known was probably Hollow Man in 2000 co-starring Kevin Bacon.
What’s she doing now, well she’s still working away and presently has a couple of films in post production including First Born (2006) by Isaac Webb and Gracie (2007) by Davis Guggenheim. The interesting thing about Gracie is that is also stars Elisabeth Shue’s brother Andrew as a soccer coach. Andrew Shue plays professional soccer for a team in Los Angeles and is probably most well known for his role in TV Series Melrose Place.
So there you have it, Elisabeth Shue is still around and working. So if you’re a fan, or perhaps were wondering whatever happened to the lady herself, you’re now in the know thanks to MovieSquad.
