One groovy old gentleman...
This was one mad movie-making Italian who had a good long life that ended Tuesday in Geneva. May we all be as productive as this guy was in his lifetime of 94 years!
Since his start in 1941, he produced such timeless classics as Dr. Zhivago, Fellini’s La Strada, A Dog’s Life, The Passenger (starring Jack Nicholson), Andy Warhol’s Frankestein (scintillatingly strange), and Two Women (which won his famous wife, Sophia Loren, an Oscar!).
The man’s an international star, having made movies for over 60 years in Italy, France, the UK and our own Hollywood; and he’s left one hell of a legacy behind of over 150 ‘dare to be different’ feature films.
If you want to learn more about this enigmatic guy who started out studying law, had two kidnap attempts made on him, was thrown in jail during WWII for being accused of Anti-German activity and met his wife Sofia Loren at a beauty contest when she was 15 and he was a 37 year old judge… then go HERE. R.I.P.
