Time to wax those boards and bikini areas!
Dude! Opening today and touring for 28 shows along the Gold Coast is the best surf filmfest ever. The Samsung Australian Surf Movie Festival – Take 5, presented by Quiksilver, premieres TODAY at Twin Towns in Coolangatta and runs for 28 shows, ending in Adelaide on October 29th just in time for the start of down under summer.
Our wave rider tour director, Tim Bonython, has chosen two of this year’s most highly anticipated films to showcase at the fest, Flow (true story of the surfing revolution) & First Chapter (futuristic surfing flick).
Just in case the ladies aren’t happy just checking out the bods on these guys, they’ll have highlights from Shimmer, the latest all-girls surf film by Roxy, which is considered one of the best all-time chick surf flicks ever made. Too bad they had to name it after an eye shadow.
Tanned attendees will also see a retrospective segment package of surfing footage shot this year by Tim Bonython & friends (including the biggest swell to hit the east coast in decades, and Shipsterns in Tasmania and South Western WA swells), and a new short film by Jason Muir & Chris Bryan, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, featuring epic desert barrels filmed this July/August with surfing by Ry Craike, Kerby Brown & crew. It’s this wet sport at its finest… so either get on a plane, or at least check out the official site for festival info and preview trailers here. You'll feel cooler just looking at it.
