Apple is workin’ it hard to improve their stock of iTune library movies, and with the addition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios on Wednesday, they’re up to about 500 titles now.
“More than two million movies have now been downloaded from the iTunes Store, making it the world’s most popular online movie store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes, in a statement.
Apple already has a deal in place with Lionsgate, Disney, and Pixar … so scoring a small slice of MGM’s library has (about 4,000 titles in all) pushes them ahead of the crowd. But it’s really all about getting their ducks in a row for Apple TV, which enables wireless communication with iTunes at the desktop - linking it to the living room. The new product can auto-sync with computers, stream media from five PCs at once via Wi-Fi and is pretty dang sweet with a set-top box that delivers a resolution of 720p high definition. HD is either truly the future of movie viewing or the biggest crap marketing ploy the world has ever seen. You be the judge.
