Awwww... cheek-pinching cute, he was!
Well you can’t help but appreciate a kid who starts his career at 6 (in a Pac-Man vitamin commercial no less), which led to movie roles such as The Boy Who Could Fly, The Princess Bride (inconceivable!) and Vice Versa with Judge Reinhold.
Of course this was all just foreplay leading up to the tasty enchilada of The Wonder Years (with that annoyingly whiny Winnie Cooper… dang we hated her), which snagged him a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy series in 89 & 90. He didn’t win, but he could at least boast being the youngest actor to ever be up for the award. We’re sure that keeps him warm at night…
After The Wonder Years ended in 93 (during which he did a few other movies, a SNL hosting and a cameo on Seinfeld), Fred decided to go back to school. Throw in a few B movies (A Guy Walks Into a Bar for example and some made for TV stuff that we need not mention) and you pretty much see how the 90’s went for him until he scored the TV show Working, which led to him dropping out of Stanford University.
Since then, (the show ended in 99) he’s shown up in a couple cool films like Austin Powers Goldmember and The Rules of Attraction (great film... dark and delicious - and you’ll get to see Fred as a junkie) which brings us up to his last TV show Crumbs from last year and a hot voice-over as a Reindeer in Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn’t Happen. So not a smokin’ career… but the guy has managed to shake off his Kevin Arnold baby face and move on, unlike most childhood actors, and he still workin’ it!
