David Duchovny has let the cat out of the bag, that Agent Mulder is back and ready to find a little more of the truth that’s out there… somewhere. Gillian Anderson is also confirmed to bring back her saucy redhead Dana Scully character to help him out. Break out the green flashlights, peeps!

Not only that, but Duchovny has eluded to that perhaps more than one sequel is in the works… but hey, let’s face it… if they make money on the next one OF COURSE they’ll keep milking that alien until it’s dry.

The writers are currently busy brainstorming details for the new script (the original writers for the show, Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are on the job) which should have been finished years ago, considering The X-Files film was released in 1998. What in the world have these people been doing since? No dates set yet for filming or release, but we’ll keep you on top of the info as it comes.

Of course these two have worked on other projects since the TV series ended in 2002, and Gillian was even nominated for a BAFTA Award for her role in the BBC TV drama Bleak House – but these two will always be Scully and Mulder to us. And we want more! (More of the early stuff, before the stupid Terminator guy joined the cast)

Back and ready for action... the Vega brothers.

The spin off for Quentin Tarantino's Pulp fiction and Reservoir dogs is back on the drawing board, after much head scratching over how to make it work.

To include the two stars that made these characters famous, John Travolta and Michael Madsen, Tarantino really had to think outside the box. The problem that’s been holding up the project is that Travolta's Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction and Madsen's Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs died in the original films, and both actors are too old for a prequel. Hmmm... how to work around this?

Madsen told Moviehole.net: "Well, first he said he would do it, then he said he wasn't going to do it. Then he called me and said, 'You know, I've figured out a way to do it. It can't be a prequel because you and John don't look the same. It wouldn't make sense as a sequel because you're both dead.' "And he gave me an idea that would be really outrageous - that John and I would be the twin brothers of Vic and Vincent. We come from Amsterdam to LA to avenge the deaths of our brothers. I think that's pretty interesting. For me, I'd love to do it."

So there you have it… problem solved! Now we can just sit back and wait for it to hit the theatres, although we have no production or release dates yet. It's just a twinkle in Tarantino’s eye at this point.

Anyone want to guess how long it'll take him to realize how ridiculous this soul patch looks on him? Anyone?! Photo credit: Variety.com

And what is everyone’s favorite worst actor up to these days? Well aside from a fabulously evil looking new movie called Mr. Brooks (where he plays a psycho-killer) that comes out in June (more info HERE), the man’s gone indie. Facial hair and acting-wise.

The new indie film, Swing Vote, is an election comedy directed by Joshua Michael Stern (he’s only done one obscure flick in 2005 called Neverwas - with Aaron Eckhart, Ian Mckellen and William Hurt). The story is about a single father thrust into the national spotlight when the presidential election all comes down to his vote. Hmmm… doesn’t sound that interesting, to tell you the truth.

Swing Vote will be the first project to come from Costner and producing partner Jim Wilson's new company Treehouse Films (an offshoot of their Tig Productions). This new endeavor will produce film, television and online content produced fully by Costner. So yes, he still likes to get his fingers in the pie a bit (remember the WaterWorld fiasco?!).

"Treehouse will give me (the) opportunity to shepherd projects from the ground up, with the goal of aligning partners of a like mind," Costner said. " 'Swing Vote' fits right into that mold," he added.

"Kevin wants to make sure he can control projects that are dear to him and may not fit within the traditional studio system," said Wilson. "And he wants to make sure there is a model for that which makes sense." Here we go again….

Just in case anyone cares - the film begins shooting in July and will be sold in Cannes next year.

Would you pay $30-$50 for a movie?

The big news in town is the talks between Comcast Corp. (the biggest U.S. cable operator) and various Hollywood studios to whip up a deal which would allow the cable giant to show movies THE SAME FREAKING DAY as they open in theaters. Can you just imagine? Enjoying that opening of Harry Potter from the comfort of your own living room, instead of among all those loud kids in the theatre?! Hallelujah. And they’re not the only ones trying to get this premium content on television. Comcast’s rivals are also trying for a slice of the action, but the big guy is in the lead.

Comcast Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke has hinted that subscribers could be charged $30 - $50 to watch an opening-day movie at home, narrowing the "window" between big screen and small screen debuts to nothing. And you know what? We think some people will actually pay that!

Theater owners have resisted the idea as obviously theatre attendance could drop (although the basic movie-goer is not going to shell out that much cash), but the movie companies (who get most of their profit from DVDs) are all for a narrower window from theatre release to DVD release. It would end the need for a second advertising campaign when their movies are ready for home viewing... so guess who’ll probably win that battle?!
